I have been reading in Hebrews and I came across this in chapter 12 …

1Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and(A) sin which clings so closely, and(B) let us run(C) with endurance the race that is(D) set before us, 2looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith,(E) who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising(F) the shame, and(G) is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

I kept thinking about the part that said EVERY WEIGHT.   So many  of my friends and people I come in contact with tell me their stories about pain they are experiencing due to circumstances that have happened out of their control.  I just recently talked to a teen girl whose father raped her pretty much daily for almost 3 years. He is now in jail but the WEIGHT she carries is unbelievable. I also talked to a dear friend who has family members who are not Christ followers and live their livess  beyond her control.   She also is carrying an extreme weight on her.  I have never looked at this scripture before like I did this week.  When we are following God with all we have its easy to read our bibles, share our faith and love on people. But when life knocks the breath out of us and we are out of control  things that happen to us  slow us down to the point of hardly moving forward.  The bible says love the Lord your God with ALL your SOUL, HEART, MIND, and STRENGTH.. Satan’s strategy is of course to attack all of those areas but just one will WEIGH you down and keep you running with endurance.  I want to encourage you to allow God to fully strip you today of your pain, your past, your fear and rest in this simple truth.. God loves you and He wants you to see the cross and all your potential that followed it.  He created you with a PURPOSE in mind.  I love the part of the verse that says “who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross” He knew the beatings, and the torture was before Him but said FOR THE JOY endured it! I hope today you find rest and know that you are covered with an everlasting love!
