Last night was Rebekah’s final game and boy it was a very exciting game! This game was the game to either put them in the tournament or send them home for the season. They have won 2, lost 2 and tied 1 so this was the GAME! We cooked steaks/green beans, rice and bread to fill her belly up with the perfect essentials. We pump her up all the way there and we pray and she has her game face on. (with a ribbon in her hair and lip gloss on of course!) She runs out on the field, and her cheering section GOES WILD! There was a ton of us! We chant, we cheer, and we jump up and down with excitement. Very early on the Inferno scores a goal (that’s the team name) and again so it is 2-0 at half time. The second half begins and the other team is pumped and our team is looking frazzled and making dumb mistakes…but as we begin to yell louder they smile and refocus and get back in the game…..at this point its 2-2 and there is about 4 or 5 minutes left! OMG!!!! The crowd is going crazy (OK so Rebekah’s crowd is going crazy) the adrenaline rush is amazing! We are on our feet and as the kids see us getting pumped for them and cheering them on something happened!! They kicked harder, they played tough, and their confidence strengthened and BAM they scored again and then again! They WON 4-2! After the game Rebekah was so excited we all got together and did the victory tunnel! The kids ran through it and their smiles were priceless! I remembered my bro in law said “wow we actually can do a victory tunnel and it’s for real” you see…we do a victory tunnel for Rebekah every time! She was out of for the two games they won because of the funeral and such and then the other two games they lost (and she was there)…SO LAST NIGHT WAS HER FIRST REAL VICTORY TUNNEL EVER! She got in the car and talked and talked and talked about it. She wanted us to tell her our favorite plays of the night. She said this is the most amazing night! Rebekah has played soccer since she was 3 and she is tough and very good! I mean she elbows those boys, gets knocked down and still gives it all she’s got. The thing is….she has never been on a team that has WON a game NOT ONE! Until this year and the two they win, she is out so last night was a night she will forever remember! I think about our relationship with Christ and the junk we go through as we pursue God with all we have and yet we feel defeated constantly. We need encouragement, we need a touch from God and we need others cheering us on. My brother in law and sister has been beat up non stop since they gave their lives to Christ and I am praying with all I have for God to send them some Christian friendships and some love and support their way. But I think through this they will continue to draw closer to each other, because in the end that’s all that matters. If you are feeling beat up, numb, or even desperate for change I am praying that God will cover you and you will surround yourself with others who believe in you!! No matter where we find ourselves…fear, panic, hurt, despair, tired, doubt, on fire, pursuing God! He EVER leaves us! Sigh….just to be in HIS presence 🙂
Exodus 17: 10 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. 12 When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. 13 So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword
